Deep Fried Hatred

About 65% of you are Americans, and many of you consume take-away during your busy lives. I've heard a lot of you talking about how fabulous Chick-Fil-A is and how it bums you out that they are closed on Sundays due to the founder's Christian faith.

It seems that Chick-Fil-A has aligned itself with extreme Christian group The Pennsylvania Family Institute, sponsoring 2 of their conferences. After some uproar, they have asked for their name to be taken off of the sponsor's placard, but they are still giving money to an organization that works to remove and restrict the rights of gay people to exist openly. PFI features lectures that teach followers they ought to cure their kid's homosexual orientation by browbeating them with scripture and is the main organization campaigning for constitutional amendments that would restrict the rights of gay couples in Pennsylvania.

But even if Chick-Fil-A were to take their dollars away from PFI's events, they still donate massive amounts of money to virulently homophobic Focus On The Family, a group which supports torturing gay people in order to make them straight. They also openly support this anti-choice religious organization, run Bible camps, only offer scholarships to Christian students, and put Christianist CDs in children's meals. The company's mission statement is "to glorify God by being a faithful steward" and even franchisees are prohibited from being open Sundays.

Now that you know what kind of things your dinner supports, does it still taste delicious? If you support freedom and truly love your neighbours, don't eat at Chick-Fil-A. If your interpretation of God doesn't discriminate, don't financially aid those that do. Everytime we eat, we make a choice. It could be organic or vegetarian or even factory farm. But when you choose to eat at Chick-Fil-A, you are eating hatred.

  1. Hi Michelle just recycling a comment I made on another blog. Seem to fit yours as well.

I think the time has come for people to wake up and realize, that a persons lifestyle choice, if not invasive to the liberties of others, should be as tolerated and respected as any other host of individual lifestyle expressions.

The inerrant evil in society is not within the arena of varied sexual preferences between consenting adults, or in the fact that a segment of society no longer holds vigilant the concept of deity. The real evil lies in the fact that so many people have become detached from their individual identities. That they have become a population of fanciful whimsy, that sees their freedom of limited choice, state oppression, and monetary burden as somehow the building blocks of society, when in reality they are the cell blocks of a prison, that they are building with their own complacency.

Throughout the blog-o-sphere this same message is resounding, through different words, different ideals, but the same message "enough is enough" it is time to take back your freedom! One word at a time, one action at a time, one post at a time. Make it your resolution this year to reclaim your voice, reclaim your individualism reclaim your future.
