Reality Chick

I know i have brought up "Pastor" Terry Jones before, actually several times. I discussed him long before the folks as MSNBC began having aneurysms over his planned 9/11 Qu'ran burning. However, after witnessing some of my neo-con pals promoting Terry Jones' Big Event, I'm now forced to mention Terry Jones and his following once again.

Terry Jones is the current pastor of the Dove World Outreach Center, a church that isn't as large as it sounds. The Center is a small church in Gainesville, Florida that is very well known for staging anti-Islamic publicity stunts. But there are a number of things that you don't know about him that you need to before you mail him a can of Ronsonol.

Terry Jones' church is the closest ally of Fred Phelps' Westboro Baptist Church. They've joined the WBC in anti-gay protests and is viciously homophobic. The DWOC also has a major beef with Gainesville's openly gay mayor, and displays "No Homo" signs. (they used to say No Homo Mayor, but the DWOC was threatened with removal of their tax-exempt status.) These folks believe that gays should be eradicated from the planet.

Terry Jones also loudly supports the WBC's anti-Jewish message. Those of you who dislike Islam probably know a few Jews, right? Well, Terry Jones' next stunt will involve burning the Talmud. I am not kidding. The Dove World Outreach Center is a charismatic church that believes that Jews should be forced to convert to Christianity or suffer G-d's eternal wrath.

Terry Jones is not a friend of the Right. He is a self-absorbed, hateful cult leader who wants attention to his divisive causes. He has the right to burn the Qu'ran. He also has the right to burn the Talmud. But make no mistake, Terry Jones is not your ally, but a neo-fascist who is willing to use the current anti-Islamic tenor to gain notoriety. However with that publicity comes our knowledge of him.
I sincerely hope that all of us will come together in protest of Terry Jones' Talmud burnings and gaybashings; to be outraged over these things just as much as we are today.

As much as many of you may find the Qu'ran distasteful, we cannot endorse Terry Jones' desecration of symbols of faith. Mr. Jones is not a champion of the Conservative movement, but a delusional tyrant that seeks to oppress everyday Americans. This is a man who was kicked out of a church in Germany for spiritual abuse.
Terry Jones is a vicious anti-semite, proud homophobe, and loud hater of women. He is a dangerous megalomaniac and not worthy of anyone’s endorsement no matter what snake oil he sells.

When he’s done with Muslims, he’s coming for us next and makes zero apologies. You cannot fight international terrorism by endorsing a domestic terrorist.

  Be well.

  1. I'm with you on this one. He is a crazy. I think this issue was made far more significant than it really was. The "right" to do something does not make it right. This is the same issue I have with the mosque in NY. In both cases, the agents of the activities are disingenuous and the acts are distasteful.
