The Rumours Of My Death Have Been Greatly Exaggerated

The net is full of information and Twitter can make a story go viral. While Tweets were correct when they announced that hockey tough guy Bob Probert died, more often than not, these reports are false.

There have been few public figures whose deaths have not been fictionalized. Internet rumours of Justin Bieber, Lindsay Lohan, Russell Crowe, and many others have been hit by the death buzz. And yesterday it was renowned DJ and music producer Tiesto. Reports swirled that he had died in a California car crash and details were added along the way, including a closed-casket funeral and anything else people decided to invent.

But it is all false. Tiesto is in Ibiza, not California. He is also alive and well. Much to his credit, he has taken the positive outlook of the situation, thanking his fans for their concern and publicly counting his blessings. I've got to say, this man is one hell of a good guy.

The web can be a source of instant information, and while most of it is verifiable, some is not.

Be careful what you read. Sometimes what people want to hear is just not the truth.
