When my mum was single, she worked her ass off. She still does. But during a small part of our lives, she could afford to give us allowances according to our age. She made sure we earned it, but 8 dollars was HUGE at the time. I got paper routes and did all sorts of other things for cash, so I could pay for sports and what-have-you, and I bought more than a few records.
This was the first record I bought during my only year of receiving allowance.
